While installation requirements may vary depending which type and style of cat wall system components you purchase, in general these basic factors will apply.
Tools and Skills Needed
Installing your cat wall shelf system does require some basic DIY skills. Tools that you will likely need are listed below.
Instructions and Mounting Equipment
All pieces come with detailed instructions and the necessary mounting equipment needed – which may include screws, brackets, washers, and/or drywall anchors.
Mounting Recommendations
We suggest that each component in your system is mounted to at least one wall stud for optimum stability. Most homes today have studs spaced 16 inches apart; you can use a stud finder to identify the studs in your wall and consider this in your design. While we do recommend hitting at least one stud for each installed shelf, heavy duty wall anchors can be used as an alternative, and are supplied with most of our components.
The majority of homes today have 16” studs, and most of our shelves are designed to hit a 16” stud when mounting. If your studs are not spaced at 16” apart, or, you do not have studs available, heavy duty drywall anchors can also be used.
